After huge success with Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi is gearing up for a new smartphone in the Redmi Note series as Redmi Note 5A has cropped up online.
Quite surprisingly, the news about Redmi Note 5A comes ahead of Redmi Note 5 launch and a Twitter user mmddj_china tweeted the retail box of the device and also revealed major specs of the device. The tweet is all about a screenshot of a post shared by a user named Tenfar on Weibo, a Chinese social network and a home for maximum China phone leaks.
According to the leak, the Redmi Note 5A specifications-wise includes a 5.5-inch display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset. Just like other Xiaomi phones, it will be available in two different variants – 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM model with 64 GB built-in storage capacity.
The Adreno 508 powers the GPU unit and extract juice from 3790 mAh Lithium-ion battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 support. It’s expected to run on MIUI 9 a customized Android 7.0 Nougat version.
In terms of optics, the Redmi 5A has 13 mega pixel front facing camera for selfies and video calling and 16 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and other camera features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR functions.
Among the connectivity options, we have USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi, x12 LTE modem and a fingerprint scanner embedded underneath the display.
Redmi Note 5A Price & Release Date
The Redmi Note 5A is expected to be priced around $200 and after the initial launch in China, it will be available for purchase in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bhutan and other South Asian countries.
Xiaomi is expected to launch Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus on July 11th, which is a size extended variant of Mi 6 phone, launched in April 2017. There is also Mi 6C phone, which was spotted on Geekbench codenamed as “Jason”. The company also has Redmi 5A phone in pipeline as well.
