After a win over Gujarat Lions, Mumbai Indians Tops Point Table

Mumbai Indians (MI) have easily defeated Gujarat Lions in the 16th match of Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. At the end, it was comfortable win by 6 wickets with 3 balls to spare for Mumbai Indians as all Rana, Rohit, Pollard shines in an another Wankhede chase.

Put in to bat first, Gujarat Lions got rid of Dwayne Smith in the first over but Brendon McCullum and Captain Suresh Raina added 80 runs for the second wicket partnership as Gujarat Lions was once again looking to post a threatening total on the scoreboard. A tight spell from Mitchell McClenaghan and Harbhajan Singh applied breaks to Gujarat Lions innings as they posted a total of 176 runs with 4 wickets. McCullum scored 64 in 44 balls and Dinesh Karthik was not out at 48 runs in 26 balls.

Just like Gujarat, Mumbai Indians lost Parthiv Patel in the second ball of the inning. It was once again Nitish Rana, the 23 years old left-hand batsman with a quickfire half-century for him, yet again, 53 runs in 36 balls with 2 sixes. Later on, to complete the chase Captain Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard contributed with 40 runs in 29 balls(not out) and 39 runs in 23 balls as weak Gujarat Lions were exploited once again. Nitish Rana once again adjudged with Man of the Match award.

Chasing team has always been dominant at Wankhede since the start of the 2016 World T20 as 19 out of 22 games have been won while chasing.

Mumbai Indians now tops the point table with 4 wins in 5 games and are a strong contender to advance into next stage of the tournament.
