Xiaomi is planning to launch new smartphones in India after they recently announced Mi Mix 2S smartphone for the Chinese market. A device named as Redmi Y2 is most likely to be announced next.
According to a tipster, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 and Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphones were spotted on the Xiaomi India site in the source code. This suggests that the above two mentioned smartphones are truly coming to India very soon.
The text such as “Mi A2 Hard Case”, “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Black” and “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Blue” were mentioned in the screenshots that were grabbed by leakster.
Just like Mi 5X which was launched as Mi A1 in India and other parts of the world globally, the Mi 6X will be launched as Mi A2 worldwide. Xiaomi Mi A1 was a huge hit and it ran on stock version of Android instead of MIUI skin. Currently, Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 9.5 to 30 smartphones by the end of the month and MIUI 10 aka MIUI X is under development.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is a budget smartphone coming out with an entry-level specification. The Mi A2 is expected to be a semi-mid to mid-range phone.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 price in India is expected to be Rs 15,000 or $280(expected). It believes to be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo version or could be the first smartphone running on un-announced Android P version. No matter that it will get the Android 9.0 update apart from several other smartphones eligible for it(check list of Android p eligible phones).
