Xiaomi on May 31st at the eighth anniversary of the company unveiled Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer Edition phones. Along with several other phones Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is slated to get the MIUI 10 update by August 2018.
Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer Edition are slated to get the MIUI 10 update, infact they are the front contenders to get the upgrade. Infact they will get the update by last week of June 2018. Along with them the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi Y2 which went on for the first flash sale at a price of Rs 9999 on Amazon.in.
Going through the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 specifications, the device comes with a 5.99 inch HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with 1000:1 contrast ratio, 450 nits brightness(70.8% NTSC color gamut) with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.
Under the hood, the latest Redmi phone is backed by a 2 GHz clocked Octa core Snapdragon 625 chipset with Adreno 506 GPU.
In terms of optics, it has a dual camera setup with a 12 mega pixel rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, PDAF with f/2.2 aperture and a secondary 5 MP camera. On the front side we have a 16 mega pixel camera with LED flash with f/2.0 aperture.
The device is backed by a 3800 mAh battery and includes a rear placed fingerprint sensor and an infra-red sensor. The device runs on MIUI 9 currently and will skip MIUI 9.5 update for the MIUI 10 update arriving within a month or two.
There is on confirmation about the MIUI 10 update on Redmi Y2 but it's slated to be out in the month of August 2018.
