Taking on Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, Xiaomi has unveiled Mi Max 2 phablet in India. It’s priced at Rs 16,999 and it’s classified as a phablet because of its bigger 6.44-inch display.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a successor of last year launched Mi Max phone. Announced at price of Rs. 16,999, it’s hard for any phablet to beat that price. Infact Galaxy S8 Plus is priced four times higher than it.

Going through Xiaomi Mi Max 2 specifications, the device packs a 6.44-inch full HD display with 2.5D curved glass. It has a narrow bezel measuring just 0.7 mm and gets a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top.

Powered by a 5300 mAh battery, it’s good enough to run the device for a day of normal usage. It promises up to 57 hours of talk time or 18 hours of video playback time. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, you can charge the device up to 68% in an hour.

It’s made of unibody metal design and under the hood it’s powered by a Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform clocked at 2 GHz. It’s coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB built-in storage.

In terms of camera, there is 12 mega pixel snapper with dual-tone LED flash with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and Sony IMX386 image sensor. It has 5 mega pixel selfie camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture.

Mi Max 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 8 OS and includes a fingerprint scanner which is located on the rear side of the device.

Mi Max 2 is priced at Rs. 16,999 and available for purchase from Mi.com online in Matte Black color from July 20. It will be available from Flipkart, Amazon, PayTM Mall and Tata Cliq from July 27th. To promote offline sales, Xiaomi has tied up with Poorvika Mobiles, BigC, Croma, Lot, Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital, EZone and Sangeetha Mobiles to sell the device from July 27th onwards.
