Ever since the SRT phone launch, the company has shouted out loudly about the future Android update support. It was announced with Android 7.1.1 Oreo and so the next major update would be Oreo.

More than Android users, OEMs very much interested about it. Lenovo owned Motorola brand supports up to two years of the software updates and so all the Moto devices launched in 2016 and 2017 are bound to get the update. Apart from Android One handsets, Google devices, several flagship phones are eligible to get the Android 8.0 update.

Smartron, an Indian based startup company has announced that it’s SRT phone will receive the Android 8.0 update. The Smartron SRT phone product listing on company’s official website clearly states that about the latest Android update whenever available. The company is likely to send this update via Over the Air (OTA) and you will receive an update notification. Talking about the update available, no dates have been confirmed and it’s highly likely to happen next year.

The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, which is the latest version of Android.

Smatron’s Android phone comes with close to Android stock user-interface and this makes them easier to carry out a software update. And talking about the Android Oreo roll-out, it might happen early next year.

To remind you of Smartron SRT phone specifications, the signature devices comes with 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and appeals to Sachin Tendulkar fans. It’s powered by a 1.8 GHz clocked Octa-core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset and has a fingerprint sensor on the back for advanced security.

It’s available in two different variants – 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM with 32 GB and 64 GB inbuilt storage capacity respectively priced at Rs 12,999 and Rs. 13,999. It’s equipped with 13 mega pixel rear and 5 mega pixel front facing camera and extracts juice from 3000 mAh battery, which gets Quick Charge support.
