Xiaomi has officially announced all new Xiaomi Redmi Y1 smartphone in India along with Y1 Lite as well. Xiaomi roped in Katrina Kaif as their official brand ambassador and she was present at the launch event which happened today in New Delhi.
Basically, Y1 smartphone is rebranded version of Xiaomi Redmi 5A as launched in China a couple of weeks ago.
Both Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite are the first phones in the newly introduced Y Series and it's a special series by Xiaomi that focuses on the selfie-centric lovers.
Going through the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 specifications it comes with 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 pixel HD resolution with 2.5 curved display providing 450 nits of brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top.
Under the hood, it's powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 505 GPU.
In terms of optics, Redmi Y1 comes with 16 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash, Omnivision camera with f/2.0 aperture. The primary camera on the rear side is with 13 mega pixel resolution with f/2.2 aperture. It's backed by a 3080 mAh battery and includes Fingerprint sensor and Infrared Sensor.
It will be available in two different variants of 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively. Both variants includes a micro SD card slot supporting storage expansion of up to 128 GB in size.
Coming to Redmi Y1 Lite, its a trimmed version of Redmi Y1. It has the same 5.5 inch display but it's trimmed down internally with Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. More downgrade is done in terms of front facing camera where it gets only 5 mega pixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite is priced at Rs 6,999, a killer price for the phone.
Both the handsets will be available for purchase from Amazon.in and Mi.com India store from November 8th through flash sale.
