Samsung Galaxy S8 Active SM-G892A

After numerous rumors, the Samsung & AT&T are getting ready to launch Galaxy S8 Active very soon because the device has finally got the FCC approval dated 30 June 2017. According to FCC listing, the upcoming rugged device from Samsung carries a model number SM-G892A and will be named as “Samsung Galaxy S8 Active”, following the naming tradition set by the Korean giant.

The FCC listing actually doesn’t show anything regarding the device but it has a diagram which shows the general outline of the phone’s design. It definitely falls in line with the Active models of Galaxy S family.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are rugged devices and interestingly, the Galaxy S8 Active will have the same IP-ratings for being waterproof but it’s said that “Active” model will provide a higher level of durability. With IP-68 certification, the Galaxy S8 can withstand up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. S8 Active with U.S. military approved MIL-STD-810G certification which offers rain, salt, dust, humidity, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant to a greater extent.

Coming to the specs and features, nothing has been officially revealed but rumors claim that the device will have a 5.4-inch display with a 2008 x 1080 pixels resolution and powered by a Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. It has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal memory that comes with expandable storage up to 256 GB via micro SD card. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box and houses a 12 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture and 8 mega pixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture.

The phone supports TD-LTE 2600 (B38) / 2500 (B41), the mobile network is FDD-LTE 2600 (B7) / 2300 (B30) / 1900 (B2) / 1700 (B4/B66) / 850 (B5) / 700) MHz, W-CDMA 1900 (II) / 1700 (IV) / 850 (V) MHz, GSM 1900/850 MHz spectrums, which corresponds to AT&T.

Samsung is expected to unveil with Galaxy S8 features like Samsung Pay, Samsung DeX(desktop experience support), wireless charging, 3D Touch, Always On Display and revolutionary IRIS scanner.

With this FCC approval out now, Samsung is on the verge of bringing the Galaxy S8 Active to the market.
