The batteries act as the life of a particular product. Especially, in the case of cars, the batteries play an important role in running the car smoothly.
Qualcomm is one such company that believes that the car should not run out of battery, and if it did, that would be a hindrance and cause discomfort in commuting. The Qualcomm Halo Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies hence came up with the idea of charging the car while driving. The company built a technology called DEVC system (dynamic electric vehicle charging) that could charge an electric vehicle up to 20 kilowatts at highway speeds. This was an amazing concept, wherein the person driving the car with this technology would not have to worry about the stopping of the car.
The first test on this amazing battery was done for a 100-meter track and was set by VEDECOM. The companies of Qualcomm and VEDECOM teamed up together in getting together the track base which would form the source. Renault and VEDECOM other hand teamed up to get the two vehicles that was required to be got in for the test.
The tests in this regard are performed by VEDECOM which in turn has to be done on quite a vast scale. It will also help VEDECOM through its tests conducted, to analyze the replica of the practical situations that would involve, the identifying of vehicles, the authorization, and agreement of the level of power between the track and vehicle and also speed and alignment of the vehicle along the track.
Using the smartphones, the car will not only pick you up, but also drop you at your destination which would be done autonomously.

I am immensely proud of what we have achieved. The combination of a global team of expert engineers and Qualcomm Halo technology, which covers all aspects of WEVC systems, irrespective of the magnetics used, has enabled us to really push the boundaries of the possible and outline our vision for future urban mobility.”
The France Company VEDECOM tested the above mentioned technology near Paris at Versailles. It was tested under a Fabric project for a cost of 9 million Euros.
A consortium of twenty five (25) organizations from around nine countries, which include the automotive manufacturers, service providers, suppliers, organizations researching on automotive aspects, domain infrastructure – energy and road, have undertaken the project that started from January 2014 and will be completed in December 2017.
“Based on the Qualcomm Halo™ wireless electric vehicle charging technology (WEVC), Qualcomm Technologies designed and built a wireless DEVC system capable of charging an electric vehicle (EV) dynamically at up to 20 kilowatts at highway speeds. Qualcomm Technologies also demonstrated simultaneous charging, in which two vehicles on the same track can charge dynamically at the same time. The vehicles can pick up charge in both directions along the track, and in reverse, further showcasing how the Qualcomm Halo DEVC system has been designed to support real-world implementation of dynamic charging.”
May be today the concept would not be of great demand, however, in the future the same would evolve, seeing the increase of technology on mobiles.
