As scheduled, the Oneplus team has officially unveiled their next flagship phone named as Oneplus 5. It’s the first smartphone with 8 GB RAM inside and packs a punch in terms of specifications & features. Currently available for pre-order in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries from June 21, it will go on for general sale on June 27.
In terms of Oneplus 5 specifications, it comes with 5.5-inch optic AMOLED display with DCI P3 colour coverage. The screen resolution was found to be 1920 x 1080 pixels and has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It’s powered by a Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform and runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat in the background. It has Reading Mode through which it filters out Blue light who gives near similar experience as an e-Reader.
Coming to the optics, it has 16-megapixel rear camera with wide angle lens f/1.7 aperture, Sony IMX398 image sensor,1.12μm pixel size, EIS and dual LED flash. It’s assisted with 20 megapixel secondary rear facing camera with Sony IMX350 sensor for improved camera capability which can give you in that information for bokeh effect and 2X zoom. it can record slow motion videos at 120fps. A 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture & Sony IMX371 rest on the front above the display for selfies and video calls.
It’s available in two different models of 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64 GB (UFS 2.1) inbuilt storage and 8 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128 GB (UFS 2.1) storage.
Company says that ceramic fingerprint sensor can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. Powered by a 3300 mAh non-removable lithium ion battery with Dash Charge (5V 4A) promises a day of battery life with half an hour of charge. It has 154.2×74.1×7.25mm dimensions and weights 153 grams. Other features include 4G VoLTE connectivity, USB Type-C, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band, Bluetooth v5.0 aptX, NFC, GPS with GLONASS, 3.5 mm headphone jack, 3 microphones with noise cancellation and Dirac HD Sound.

Coming to the colours availability you can choose OnePlus 5 from Slate Grey and Midnight Black and the price starts at $479 for the bass 6 GB RAM with 64 GB version and the top model costing $539. It’s available for preorder in most countries and in India it will launch on Thursday, June 22 and will go on for sale at 4:30 PM exclusively on Amazon.in in India.
