Augmented Reality(AR) is the new buzz in today’s world, in which most of the companies are looking forward to invest. Apple Inc., has been introducing quite a lot of stuff at regular intervals, is now eyeing on AR technology. Apparently, some days back, the company acquired the German-based company named SensoMotoric Instruments, who deal with eye-tracking tech, is used in virtual and augmented reality (AR) headsets and glasses.
Apple CEO Tim Cook is very excited and says: “AR is going to take a while because there are some really hard technology challenges there. But it will happen, it will happen in a big way, and we will wonder when it does, how we ever lived without it. Like we wonder how we lived without our phone today.” He also reiterated “I am so excited about it, I just want to yell out and scream”.
The ARKit which was introduced by Apple earlier this month assists developers in building the AR apps for iPhone. The company’s intention is to get a lot of AR apps by this fall.
In the year 2015, Apple bought Metaio, the German augmented reality company which was priced for hundreds of millions of dollars. This proves the fact, that Apple was interested in the AR technology from the year when it first acquired Metaio.

There is a sect called as “special projects” camera group at Apple that gave the support to the work related to the ARKit. Metaio’s CEO Thomas Alt works at Apple as Director of Procurement on a strategic deals team.
The Augmented World Expo is the place where the companies like Microsoft, Google, Facebook send their employees to attend the event. The company as per the reports was not on the list for attending the event, however, people from Apple have attended without the identification specified.
