The latest Google app beta suggests a new version of Android that is on its way. After Google on August 21st finally named the Android 8.0 version as Android Oreo, following the pattern, as usual, has come up with the new version number – Android 8.1 Oreo, that was spotted by the folks at 9to5Google in version 7.11 of the Google beta app, which is just rolling out to enrollees.
Android 8.1 Oreo
Android 8.1 seems to be accompanied by a bump in the SDK version, in the sense that it involves enough changes to the API set in order to warrant a new SDK number.
SDK (software development kit) is the collection of APIs (application programming interfaces) that enables developers to create apps that plug into the OS’ features.
Google lens with Pixel 2
A new icon for Google lens visual search feature is speculated to launch with the Pixel 2, including the small updates to the screenshot functionality and Bluetooth audio for automotive.
Again, the Bisto smart headphones (being work in progress) by Google would be found in the notification message, denoting the headphones’ battery level. This means that a toast message with the remaining battery level will be presented to the user every time they connect the headphone to their smartphone.
The second-gen Pixels will be the first devices to launch running Android 8.1, when the same lands in October.
The routine of Google launches has seen the series of the ‘number’ is very common. In other words, once the Android 7.0 debut in August, Google released Android 7.1 with the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4, 2016.
It was seen that the developers had an access to the preview version of the OS in the month of March, and the updated versions releasing in May, June, and July even though some of the features were limited to the Pixel phones during the releases of the developer previews.
Android 8.1 Release Date
The teardown revealed that some of the developers from Google are using the Android 8.1 SDK for building apps.
Eventually, the developers are expected to be on ‘head over heels’, with new generations in place brought out by the ‘Search engine assistant’, Google and good for the devs as it is an opportunity given by the company to prove themselves to be the best based on the skill-set used!
