SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship match ends in Controversy; The Usos Retain the Title

On January 2nd 2018, the very first episode SmackDown Live of the new year, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin for a second won the Tag Team Championship title but after The Usos protest the match was restarted and The Usos retained their title. The Usos are still the reigning SmackDown Live Tag Team Champion.

Defending their titles against the tag team of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin. The new pair pinned the wrong man. It was Jey Uso the legal man.

After a protest from The Usos instant replay showed what actually happened and that forced referee to restart the match. The new tag team champions didn't want to enter the ring once again.

And when the match restarted, Jimmy and Jey never gave a chance to the new pair.

And what do we have after that, The Usos Splash and the champions retain their titles. So, 2018 year for blue brand begins with controversy. More to add to that, AJ Styles vs Sami Zayn match later that night ended in controversy too.

Two weeks ago, the new pair of Shelton and Gable scored a pinfall victory over Jimmy and Jey Uso om a non-title match. That earned them a championship opportunity and they fully utilized it but one mistake ruined their night.
