Sachin Tendulkar co-owned Chennai Kabaddi Team Named as "Tamil Thalaivas"

Chennai Kabaddi franchise which is set to make its debut during Pro Kabaddi League 2017 (PKL) gets an official name as "Tamil Thalaivas". Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar who co-owns the team revealed it on Twitter. He wrote "Another powerful addition to Pro Kabaddi. Proud to announce our new team, @tamilthalaivas. Looking forward to an amazing season 5."

Apart from the official team name announcement, the franchise owners also revealed that K Baskaran will be the coach.

Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are the four new team added this year to Kabaddi league. Season five of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 5) is scheduled to begin from July 28 and apart from Chennai Kabaddi team, there is a total of 12 teams competing for Star Sports Kabaddi league this season.

Among the team players, Chennai picked Amit Hooda (costliest player at Rs 63 Lakh by franchise), Ajay Thakur(Amit Thakur brother) are the well-known faces. They were the first team to fill up the maximum team quota of 25 players at last month concluded PKL auction.

The team also picked defender Anil Kumar for a price of Rs 25.50 lakh and also picked defender C Arun, a local player was brought for a price of Rs 33 lakh on the second day of the auction. Other team players include Bhavani Rajput, Dong Geon Lee, K Prapanjan, M. Thivakaran, Sombir, Vinit Sharma, Sarang Arun Deshmukh, Tushar Patil and Waleed Al Hasani (Iran Player) as Raiders. Mugilan, Rajesh, Sanket Chavan, Vijay Kumar, T Prabhakaran, Darshan J, Vijin Thangadurai as defenders and Pratap, Ananth Kumar, Chan Sik Park and Sujit Maharana as all-rounders.

Expert says that Tamil Thalaivas has a competitive squad and franchise are looking for sponsors.
