Kolkatta Knight Riders love chasing the big totals. Against Delhi Daredevils in the 32nd league match of IPL 2017, they yet again proved that they are masters of chasing. A win by 7 wickets with 22 balls remaining puts Knight Riders firmly on top.
Played at Eden Gardens, Kolkatta, it was home venue for KKR, captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss yet again and opted to bowl first. In-form Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer once again gave Delhi a strong after a slow start from Karun Nair.
Samsun added 60 off 38 balls and Iyer made 47 off 34 balls. After a fast start, none of the Delhi Daredevils batsmen showed intent and they ended the inning with 160 on the scoreboard.
For a team like Kolkatta, you need 200, 160 isn’t enough. Much like the last match, after losing Sunil Narine early, it was yet again Robin Uthappa and captain Gautam Gambhir which laid the platform for an easy win with quickfire 108 partnership in 66 balls. That is the fourth-century partnership between the both, most by any pair in IPL while chasing. In doing so, Gautam Gambhir scored back to back half-centuries, fourth of the season.
After the win, KKR’s official Twitter account reads as –

Just like Gujarat and Pune, Delhi Daredevils lacks wicket taking bowlers. Zaheer Khan and Rabada were economical but couldn’t stop KKR.
That was 13 wins in a row while chasing at their home venue and they are now a strong contender for the title this season. They are almost through the playoffs.
