Royal Challengers Bangalore paved way for Rising Pune Supergiant to secure vital two points and improve their Net Run Rate as they won the match by 61 runs after putting just 157 on the scoreboard. Now with five wins in nine games, they are now fourth in the points table and separate them from bottom four teams by atleast four points.

For RPS, ill Ben Stokes paved way for New Zeland speedster, Lockie Ferguson who fully utilized his selection as he was adjudged Man of the Match for his impressive fast bowling. His bowling figure reads 4 overs 7 for 2 wickets and his addition strengthened the Pune’s bowling which was ripped away in the last match against Kolkatta Knight Riders as they were unable to defend 183 runs.

Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 34th match of Vivo Indian Premier league played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. It was once again Tripathi who gave them solid start with a score of 37 off 28 balls. Smith and Tiwary, batting ahead of MS Dhoni added 50 runs for the third wicket partnership. Smith added 45 off 32 balls while Manoj Tiwary remained not out on 44 off 35 balls. Few late blitz from Dhoni and Manoj in slog overs and Pune put 157/3 on the scoreboard.

It was once again a batting failure for RCB as they were all out for 96. No other batsman, except Virat Kohli went on to make a double digit score. Kohli brought up his half-century, 55 off 48 balls as visitors win by 61 runs. With this loss, RCB, although they have four matches, are almost out of IPL 2017.
