Kolkatta Knight Riders have once again demolished Royal Challengers this season to post yet another comprehensive win over host at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. A couple of days back they bundled RCB for 49 runs in a low scoring game.

KKR’s captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to bowl first at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chris Lynn returned to the KKR side from an injury and Travis Head replaced Shane Watson for RCB.

Playing in his 100th IPL match, Chris Gayle was out for a second duck in successive T20 innings as his poor form this season continues. Umesh Yadav picked his second wicket as he sent back Virat Kohli in the third over of the match. In the fifth over Narine removed AB de Villiers to reduce the host 40/3 after first six overs. Then, Travis Head and Mandeep Singh added 71 runs for the fourth wicket to revive the inning as both brought up their fifties. Travis Head top scored with 75 not out of 47 balls with 5 sixes to take RCB to 158.

Kolkatta Knight Riders in the chase made a mockery of Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers as they raced to 100 on the scoreboard in the sixth over, a record powerplay score. Openers Chris Lynn & Sunil Narine both scored a half century, infact Narine equalled teammate Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest half-century in IPL(he took just 15 balls). Earlier he accounted for dismissal of AB de Villiers and Mandeep Singh. In the end, Kolkatta won by 6 wickets with 29 balls to spare and they once again showed that they have match-winners who can chase any total easily.

With this win, Kolkatta Knight Riders move to No.2 spot in the points table, just 2 points behind Mumbai Indians and better in run-rate against the third place, Rising Pune Supergiant. Sunil Narine was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round show and he is a strong contender for the ‘Most Valuable Player‘ this season.
