Mumbai Indians pip Rising Pune Supergiant to clinch IPL 10 final by 1 run at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on May 21, Sunday. Mumbai pulled off late heist to win the Indian Premier league title for the third time.
Mumbai Indians were feeling the pressure of losing all their three previous encounters with Rising Pune Supergiant this season and that’s why after winning the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma has no hesitation to bat first.
Mumbai lost both their openers in third over of the inning as Jaydev Unadkat dismissed Parthiv Patel first and then took a super reflex catch to dismiss Lendl Simmons who had a poor tournament this season.
None of the Mumbai middle order batsmen approached well to Pune’s bowling and at one point of time, they were reeling at 79 for 7. It was Krunal Pandya and Mitchell Johnson who revived the inning by adding 50 runs for the eight wicket partnership and took Mumbai to 129 in 20 overs.
For Mumbai, Pandya brothers have been special this season, especially the Krunal’s improvement is phenomenal. He stood Man of the Match yet again for his magnificent inning of 47 off 38 balls under pressure.

In the chase, Pune ensured that they don’t lose wickets too early. In Ben Stokes absence they were one batsman short and as far as the chase is concerned, they were on target until the fifteenth over of the inning. Rahane and Smith added 50 runs for the second wicket partnership in 54 balls.
The Dhoni’s dismissal in the 17th over was the turning point of the match as Mumbai pulled back things in the slog overs. Smith dismissal in the last over paved way for Mumbai’s win. Pune were too slow in chase.
