Rising Pune Supergiants has chase down a score of 176 off the last ball of the inning to defeat defending Champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) by 6 wickets. A win worth the wait for RPS because Dhoni is back in form as he struggled all through this IPL.
Australia captain and vice-captain, Steven Smith and David Warner, came up against each other in this match, leading opposing IPL teams. After the conclusion of IPL, they will pair up together for the national side for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Rising Pune Supergiants won the toss and the captain, Steven Smith puts Sunrisers to bat. Sunrisers openers – Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner added 55 for the first wicket. They were involved in the slowest half-century stand of the season – for any wicket.
Sunrisers scored 63 off the last 5 overs as posted a competitive total 176 for 3. Star of the inning was Moises Henriques who lifted Hyderabad after a slow start from the openers. He along with Deepak Hooda added quick runs as Sunrisers accumulated 111 of last 10 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Daniel Christian who was economical with a spell of 20 for 1 in his four overs.
In reply to a chase of 177, Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 2 in the fourth over of the match off Bipul Sharma bowling. Rahul Tripathi was yet again impressive as he hit the ball all sides of the ground. He and Steven Smith added 72 runs for the second wicket. Tripathi was run out on 59 off 41 balls and RPS were struggling in the chase as Ben Stokes was sent back to pavilion very soon.
Nerveless MS Dhoni once again he showed why he is the best finisher in the world. He scored the winning runs and remained not out on 61 off 34 balls with three sixes. He was later adjudged Man of the Match.
