In the 11th match of Indian Premier League 2017, Kolkatta Knight Riders(KKR) have easily defeated Kings XI Punjab(KXIP). The match between KKR & KXIP was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkatta, the home venue for Kolkatta team and also the first home game for them.
Kolkatta's Captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to bowl first. His plans were back-fired by KXIP openers quickly rushed to score 50 runs in first four overs. Kolkatta's spinners then took the control of the match as Piyush Chawla first removed Manan Vohra who scored 28 runs in 19 balls and then Sunil Narine got rid of Marcus Stoinis in the eighth over the inning. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowler as he took 4 wickets for 33 runs, his third four-wicket haul as Punjab posted a total of 170 runs.

Quite surprisingly it was Sunil Narine who open with Gambhir. Both the openers put on a total of 76, KKR's best score in the Powerplay. Sunil Narine scored 37 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 205.55. The rest of the work was done by Captain Gautam Gambhir as he stayed not out with a score of 72 in 49 balls and at the end KKR won the match comfortably by 8 wickets with 21 balls to spare. They now have reclaimed the #1 spot in points table with two wins in three games with a healty net run-rate(NET RR) of +1.475.

Sunil Narine was rewarded with Man of the Match award for his all-round show. His franchise now will play against defending champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 15, the 14th IPL game this season.
