Kolkatta Knight Riders continue their winning streak at home as they have defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in the 14th Match of Vivo Indian Premier League season 10(IPL 2017).

After winning the toss, Sunrisers captain David Warner opted to bowl first. Last time successful opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Narine for KKR, this time didn’t perform as both the openers were out cheaply.

Robin Uthappa found form with a quickfire 68 off 39 balls and Manish Pandey chipped in with a valuable 46 off 35 balls. They were off to a flying start as they reached 100 runs on the scoreboard in 12.4 overs. Decent contributions from rest of the KKR batsman have led the team to score 172 for 8 in their inning. For Sunrisers, Bhubaneshwar Kumar was once again exceptional at death. Three wickets to his tally and gave away only 20 runs in four overs, he will continue to wear “Purple Cap”.

While chasing a modest total of 173 runs, Sunrisers were off to a decent start as they scored 45 runs in the mandatory powerplay. But once spinners were brought in, both the Sunrisers openers were out quickly and since then the team never looked in a position to chase the target. This loss for Sunrisers has exposed their inexperienced middle-order. Robin Uthappa was adjudged with ‘Man of the Match’ award.

After this win over Sunrisers, KKR now has won 3 matches in 4 games and they are most likely to advance to next stage of the league. They will now face Delhi Daredevils in New Delhi on April 17.
