3 Sony Xperia Phones and Xperia Z4 Tablet gets Firmware updates but not Oreo

Sony Software update

Sony Xperia devices had troubles with the summer 2017 software updates but the update is now rolling out to Xperia Z5 family. The Sony Xperia Z5 family including Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z4 tablet have been updated with new security patches as these phones have been facing updating trouble. The users have also complained about of heating up of the battery.

The company has updated the devices with almost an update size of 400 MB and the update is rolled-out via Over the Air(OTA). It happens to be phase-wise roll-out, so many users in few countries might not get.

Xperia Z5 family which includes Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium moved from build number 32.4.A.0.160 to 32.4.A.1.54. The update is to the unlocked Sony Xperia phones.

In order to proceed with the update, you should have atleast 50% battery left on your device and have a stable Wi-Fi or Data connection to proceed for download then install the latest firmware build.

The firmware update usually takes some time to reach out the Sony users so they need not be too concerned if their device has not received any update.

Particularly last year, Sony was rapid enough to announced software upgrade plans for their devices to Android 7.0 Nougat but this year, the Japanese smartphone manufacturer is silent even after a month has been passed of the official Android 8.0 Oreo announcement.

Atleast 70 phones and tablets are expected to get the Oreo treatment and it includes newly launched Xperia phones but Sony is yet to confirm it. You can check out the list of qualifying and confirmed devices here.
