A Samsung Galaxy S8 update to XXU1AQG5 is now available for download bringing wireless charging improvements and adds stability to camera app.

The latest Galaxy S8 update is a pretty hefty, weighs around 750.44 MB. The Korean consumer electronics giant has sent out the update notification to all the Galaxy S8 owners. According to devices at our end, the version number is mentioned as G950FXXU1AQG5/G950FFOXM1AQG5/G950FFXXU1AQG5. The notification also includes a changelog which says –

  • Stability of camera has been improved.
  • The stability of Wireless Charging has been improved.

This update to Galaxy S8 doesn’t add any new features to the device and it’s currently available for users in India.

In order to download the update, it’s recommended to connect your device to 4G LTE or Wi-Fi (best and suggested option) because the update size is big enough to download it over 3G. Also, ensure that you have 30% battery left over on your device. Once the updates are downloaded, it will be installed automatically. The phone will restart automatically after updates are installed.

If you haven’t received the update notifications, you can check for a manual update by going through Settings > About Device > Software Update and then tap on Check Now.

Samsung recommends you to update your Galaxy device regularly. The flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are among the first devices scheduled to get the upcoming Android 8.0 (Android O) update(name unannounced yet), whenever available.

The Korean giant has sent out invites for the Samsung UnPacked event scheduled for August 23 launch of Galaxy Note 8. After the Note 7 fiasco, Samsung is hoping big with Note 8. The device will be also available for hands-on at IFA 2017, Berlin show. The device is expected to take on LG V30 and Apple iPhone 8.
