Save 40 percent on Starbucks merchandise and bagged coffee
Save 30 percent on imported and domestic beer and soda
Save 30 percent on wine
Save 30 percent on candy
Save 25 percent on basic grocery items and snacks
Save 20 percent on produce, meat, and seafood
The Oakland Park store is to close on Aug 25, as confirmed by a Safeway manager. So new items are not being stocked and the sales are to remain final.
Nicole Krauss, the Publix spokeswoman said, “We expect the deal to close sometime in September and our plan is to open all three Publix locations in the fourth quarter of this year.” The company further added, as regards the pharmacies, they closed in July and the customer prescriptions were automatically transferred to Publix pharmacy. The only three Safeway stores in Florida were acquired by Publix Supermarkets in June.
“Close proximity to the busy Publix in Northridge Shopping Center will not affect the conversion of the Safeway in Oakland Park,” confirmed Krauss. She further added there are Publix markets in close proximity to each other in Miami Beach and hence there are no plans to close the current Publix even after the new store opens.
More information and decision on the in-store Starbucks and liquor stores will be available around the grand openings, Krauss declared.
The fate of the employees affected by the store closure is not informed. However, details on applying for employment at Publix stores are provided to the employees who may be affected by the store closure, as confirmed by the Lakeland-based grocer.
