Sachin Tendulkar

The ace performer in cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has bought the Tamilnadu Kabaddi team, a new franchise under the Pro Kabaddi League. He is one of the owners of the team along with N.Prasad. JSW Group, Adnani Group and the GMR group are the other three team sponsors/owner.

Sachin’s team is one of the four new franchises added this year and it has not been named still. However, it is an honor and pride for the Chennai Kabbadi team to be chosen by ‘God of Cricket’. The next season of Pro Kabaddi league will be played from July to October.

Tamilnadu Pro Kabaddi team will operate under Iquest Enterprises Pvt Ltd.(Consortium). The Gujarat team will be operated by Adnani Wilmar Ltd, GMR League Games Pvt. Ltd gets Uttar Pradesh team and Haryana team would be under JSW Sports Pvt. Ltd. There seems to be an immense wave in the demand factor for the above-said teams from their fans. The sport has only one season in the first year and organizers are conducting two seasons a year.

Most delighted were, the chairman and CEO of Star India, Mr. Uday Shankar in welcoming the new stakeholders, to PKL 2017. He said, “We believe that with the support of existing and new partners, we are well on our course to realizing socially transformative sports agenda.”

A 74% stake owner of the league, Star India, is the official broadcaster of the game. The PKL was introduced in the year 2014. Sachin getting into the team as an investor, would pep up the demand for the game and increase its intensity of recognition. For sure, it is going to surpass the other sports with a calm approach which is in terms of the geographical representation.

Vivo Electronics is the title sponsor for the League for five years and has closed the sponsorship deal for 300 crores very recently and so it’s now renamed as ‘Vivo Pro Kabaddi‘. The Chinese smartphone maker is also the title sponsor for Indian Premier League, a cricket league held every year in India. Abhishek Bachchan owns Jaipur Pink Panthers, Ronnie Screwvala, CEO of UTV owns U Mumba team.

The Sport of Kabbadi has reached its great heights in terms of demand for viewing from 2014, (when it was first founded by Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd.) till now. India organized the first ever Kabaddi World Cup earlier this year and a number of teams participated. A new stream of entertainment is on the move.
