All-round Pune beats Kings XI to confirm Playoff Spot

Among the costly player this season only Ben Stokes has offered fitting returns to his franchise. He starred in many winning matches but was unable to play the final league game for Pune as he had his national duties to be fulfilled in wake of Champions Trophy 2017. After winning their opening match, they got three successive loses but yet they finished second on points table this season with 9 wins in 14 games.

In their final league game, Pune scummed Kings XI Punjab to 73, their lowest total in IPL ever to win the match comfortably by nine wickets.

Jaydev Unadkat sent back dangerous Guptill for a golden duck in the first over of the match. He then returned to dismiss Swapnil Singh in the fourteenth over to ignite fine display of team bowling. At after match interview, Virender Sehwag, Punjab’s coach slammed foreigner players for not staying on the crease for long duration.

Pune were in no hurry during chase as they just needed a win to ensure their second spot.

Finally we got all the four qualifiers. Rising Pune Supergiant takes on Mumbai Indians in the qualifier 1 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 16th. While winning gets direct entry into IPL finals, the losing team however gets a second chance as against the winner of eliminator in the Qualifier 2 to make it to finals.
