Nokia Phones sales hit 4 million mark; will reach 10 Million by Year end; IDC

Even though there were tough times faced by Nokia in the past, the Nokia Android phone comeback this year has created the same craze that prevailed in 2000s. HMD Global acquired rights to sell Nokia phones and the company made their plans clear last year that they will launch 5-7 Android phones in 2017.

First they introduced Nokia 6 smartphone in China and then in February 2017, HMD Global introduced the more broader picture of ‘Nokia Android phones’ at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. From then the sales have peaked up to not only “millions” but also “tens of millions” of smartphones.

The confirmation was made official on September 2nd relating to all four Nokia smartphones sales. According to IDC reports, a market research firm, claims that HMD Global has sold 1.5 million Nokia Android smartphones in the first half of this year ending June 2017.

The International Data Corporation (IDC) is of the opinion that Nokia is going to bag the sales to a high extent and is already doing good. Nokia 6 in China has contributed to a great fraction of the total sales of 1.5 million units.

IDC Research Director went on to twitter to tweet “They sold 1.5M Nokia-branded Android smartphones in the first half of 2017.”

It also stated that ranking 5 in Finland, Nokia holds a 0.4% global market share. It’s the 11th largest manufacturer in Europe.

In June as per the calculation, Nokia had reached 1.4 million sales. TomiAhonen Consulting estimated around 2.5 million that was with regard to Global, 3 months according to TomiAhonen Consulting estimate. There were 2 new models added, Xmas Q and TomiAhonen Consulting, preliminary forecast reported 3.5 million.

The Play Store page of the Nokia Support app showed that the app has been installed on 1 million to 5 million devices even though the clarity of the exact number was not revealed. However, this shows the number of people using the Nokia phones. The entry-level smartphone was available worldwide that went on sale in the first half of June.

The sale factor has given an immense change in the way of the approach of Nokia branded phones, especially with regard to the technology and also for the fact that the smartphones from Nokia have the same demand unchanged. The stats have proved it accordingly. You can go through the new Nokia commercial which is truly heart-touching.

After the release of Nokia 8, the company is preparing for flagship Nokia 9 smartphone, which might be launched at MWC 2018 early next year.
