HMD Global, the brand which re-invented Nokia with Android smartphones lineup, has officially announced the second generation of Nokia 6 phone. Dubbed as the new Nokia 6 (2018), the handset is now available in China for a price starting at CNY 1499(around $230/£170/AU$295).

The device was leaked only a couple of days back and it’s quite surprising to see the company is holding an event on January 19 as well. The upcoming flagship Nokia 9 is expected to be unveiled.

Basically, its a successor to last year launched Nokia 6 phone and as expected it comes with few noticeable upgrades. The handset features the same 5.5 inch IPS LCD multi-touch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels full HD resolution. It still uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and gets powered by a 3000 mAh battery. Engineer as HMD Global isn’t impressed with 18:9 aspect ratio and so they have opted for traditional 16:9 screen.

Under the hood, the Nokia 6 second generation is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Mobile Platform coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It will be available in two different storage models of 32 GB and 64 GB and both models have a hybrid micro SD card slot to expand the storage using a micro SD card(up to 256 GB) in the secondary SIM slot.

In terms of optics, the latest Nokia handset features an 8 mega pixel front facing shooter for selfies and there is a 16 mega pixel camera on the back. It has Bothie mode too.

Sadly it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box but the company has confirmed that the device will be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo sometime in March or April 2018.

The device is made from 6000 series aluminum body and has a redesigned back panel with fingerprint scanner unit placed on the back.

The Nokia 6 2nd Gen 32 GB costs CNY 1,499 (Rs. 14,500 approx) while the 64 GB model is priced at CNY 1,699 (Rs. 16,600 approximately). Both variants are available in Silver and Black colour options.
