Xiaomi has made a record with regard to the sale of the Redmi Note 4 in India which has gone up to 5 million as per the statistics received.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 has become the highest shipped smartphone this year. According to Counterpoint’s Market Monitor, Redmi Note 4 had 7.2% market share in India’s smartphone market, during Q2 2017.
The features of the phone led it to shine on ‘top’ as it was believed, that, one in every four smartphones sold online was a Redmi Note 4 during the said six months.
The sale is recorded from the time of the launch of the phone from 23rd January to 23rd July 2017.
To mark this achievement, the company created ‘largest grain mosaic art’. It is regarded as the World’s largest grain Mosaic art that was done at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi spread across an area of 6000 square feet. About 40,000 kilograms of food grain was used – this included rice, pulses etc.
It is believed that the 40,000 kg of grains that were used to create the Mosaic will be given back to the society, Xiaomi will donate this to Robin Hood Army, an NGO that will feed 1 million people across India and Pakistan during Independence day. The cause is supported by Boman Irani, Mithali Raj, and Virender Sehwag.
The Vice President, Xiaomi and managing director, Xiaomi India, Manu Jain, said, “Mi Fans are at the core of our business. Thanks for their love and support, we have sold 5 Million units of Redmi Note 4 – India’s No. 1 selling smartphone. We are celebrating this occasion by giving back to the community. The grains used to create world’s largest mosaic will help feed 500,000 underprivileged people on this Independence day.”
The idea was conceptualized by Karan Shroff, lead, creative strategy, Xiaomi India and the execution was done by Humour Me.
Almost any series of the phones introduced in India with the Xiaomi background has made its mark and the company hopes to do so in the future as well.
The Redmi Note 4 is poised to get the MIUI 9 update.
