Indian army has once again hit out terrorists strongly. Recently a new Surgical Strike by India was launched alongside Mynamar border. There seemed to be heavy casualties on the insurgent group National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) (K) in an operation earlier in the day on the India-Myanmar border.
Naga terrorists belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) were killed in an early morning gunfight along the Indo-Myanmar border, the Indian Army said on Wednesday.
As per an army statement “In the early morning hours of September 27, a column of Indian Army while operating along Indo-Myanmar border was fired upon by unidentified insurgents. Own troops reacted swiftly and brought down heavy retaliatory fire on the insurgents. The insurgents then broke contact and fled from the spot”. It added “As per inputs a large number of casualties were suffered by the insurgents. Own troops suffered no casualties during the fire fight”.
However, the “surgical strike” claims were denied by the Army sources. It is reiterated that own troops did not cross the international border.
For the past some weeks the army has stepped offensive against the insurgent outfits like the NSCN, which operate from Myanmar, and Wednesday’s assault could be a part of that.
The Eastern Command tweeted “Reports of casualties to #IndianArmy personnel factually incorrect. Firefight occurred along Indo-Myanmar border at 0445 hrs today @adgpi.”
The Eastern Air Command tweeted “Firefight occurred along Indo-Myanmar border at 0445 hrs today,”
It has to be recollected here that in the year 2015, 20 soldiers in Manipur were killed when a similar operation against banned insurgent groups were conducted.
Also to be taken a note, the Modi government in August 2015 signed a peace deal with the NSCN (IM) faction, however, the details are still not known and as it is, not much has changed on the ground. The accord was signed after the renewal of “war of independence”, which means it was signed a few months after NSCN (K) ended a 14-year truce with Delhi.
The security on the borders have always been a part of concern and the army is doing its best by being aware of the attacks.
