After launching Sony Xperia XZ2 smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) in February 26, Sony Mobiles has unveiled Xperia XZ2 Premium. It retains same design overall as the XZ2 but get upgrades in terms of display, camera, battery and other specifications.
Going through the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium specifications, the latest Sony Xperia phones has a 5.8-inch 4K display and receives the biggest upgrade in terms of camera. That’s what the Sony’s smartphones are known for. It adopts dual camera setup with 19 mega pixel motion color sensor and a 12 mega pixel monochrome sensor instead of adopting telephoto/zoom lens that are found on Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus smartphones.
The phone will have a portrait feature, which is simply called as Bokeh mode and this feature will be only available through a software upgrade in Q3. It can record 960fps slow-motion videos at fullHD resolution and this is where it beats Galaxy S9 which is limited to just 720 pixels HD. There is also 13 mega pixel front facing camera with 1/ 3,06” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle, and f/2.0 aperture.
Under the hood, the XZ2 Premium is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The phone will get Android 8.1 Oreo and also will get Android 9.0 P upgrade apart from several qualifying Android P phones.
It has 3D glass body and features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back as well as on the front. The smartphones get IP65/68 certification for being water and dust resistant smartphone.
It packs 3540 mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive charging fast charge technology and Qi wireless charging. It has a rear placed fingerprint scanner unit and USB Type-C audio, Stereo speaker with S-Force Front Surround, DSEE HX, and LDAC features.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium price is not announced yet but since the XZ2 costs $800 for the unlocked, the newly announced Premium version could be costing more than $900. It’s available in Chrome Black and Chrome Silver colors.
