Samsung has quietly launched Galaxy J3 Pro SM-J320FZDGINS smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 8,490 it will be exclusively available on PayTM Mall from April 6th. It’s an entry-level smartphone in the Galaxy J-series by the South Korean giant.
Talking about Galaxy J3 Pro, it was previously launched in China in June last year. This India only variant comes with minor features addition as compared with China edition. Moreover China J3 Pro version has outdated specifications compete with the latest generation of smartphones from brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE and Meizu.
In terms of technical specifications, the Galaxy J3 Pro flaunts 5.0-inch (12.7 cms) Super AMOLED display with 68.0% screen-to-body ratio. It provides 1280 x 720 pixels HD resolution and pixel density was found to be 294 PPI. The sub-Rs 10,000 smartphone market is hugely dominated by phones with 5.5-inch display and devices with 5-inch display are hard to find. Still, we have Lenovo K6 Power and Moto G4 Play with same 5-inch screen size.
Under the hood, for the India-only model, company replaced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with a 1.5 GHz quad core Spreadtrum processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage. It’s a dual SIM device with an additional micro SD card slot to expand the storage up to 128 GB using a micro SD card.
Coming to the camera, we have 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. There is 8-megapixel camera on the rear with features like autofocus, Beauty Face, Sound & Shot, Panorama, HDR(High Dynamic Range), Continuous Shot and LED flash. It’s disappointing to see Galaxy J3 Pro running on Android 5.1 Lollipop because it’s a two-generation old Android version. The 2600 mAh Lithium-ion removable battery offers a day-long battery life.
It will be available in three different color options such as black, gold, and white. Only SIM 1 supports 4G connectivity and includes Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS with GLONASS connectivity features. It has 14.23 cm x 7.1 cm x 0.79 cm dimensions with a weight of 138 grams only for the handset with battery. Unlike other OEMs, Samsung continues their trends of including basic earphone and charger in the phone box.
Representatives from Samsung says that it’s perfectly made for customers in India (‘Make in India’ Initiative clearly printed on the box) as it features unique apps like S Bike mode, Ultra Data Saving mode (UDS), Ultra Power Saving mode allows you to take control of your device. The Ultra Power Saving mode (UPS) helps you to extend battery life to a great extent by disabling high battery consumption apps and Ultra Data Saving mode helps you to save data while browsing.
Just like any other Galaxy J phones, the S Bike mode on this device helps users to make their bike journey safer. A country which is most dependent on bikes for transport, S Bike mode is first unique feature targeted towards bikers in India and for your information, there are many other phones in Samsung Galaxy J series which comes with S Bike mode feature.
