Samsung unveils Galaxy A8 (2018) along with upgraded Galaxy A8+ (2018)

Samsung Mobiles has unveiled much awaited Galaxy A8 2018 smartphone along with the introduction of a plus size variant named as Galaxy A8+ 2018. These two are the latest handset in the Galaxy A series and happens to be the successor of Galaxy A8 2017. Both the devices were in the rumors for a long time now. Both handsets sports water and dust resistant body with IP68 ratings.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 comprises of 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display while the A8+ 2018 variant arrives with 6-inch Super AMOLED display with 2220 x 1080 pixels full HD resolution.

Under the hood, both devices are powered by an Octa-core Exynos 7885 processor coupled with Mali-G71 GPU and running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with proprietary TouchWiz UI on top. Samsung hasn't confirmed but both the handsets are highly likely to be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo version. In terms of optics, both handsets have 16 mega pixel front facing camera with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary front camera with 8 mega pixel image sensor with f/1.9 aperture. There is a single 16 mega pixel camera on the rear side with f/1.9 aperture.

The A8 2018 model is powered by 3000 mAh battery while the A8+ model gets 3500 mAh battery and both supporting adaptive fast charging support. As expected Samsung is trying out the new fingerprint scanner unit on the back side, which is now placed below the camera unit. The upcoming flagship Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to feature the same camera placement.

The Galaxy A8 2018 model is available in only 4 GB RAM variant with either 32 GB or 64 GB inbuilt storage. The bigger brother Galaxy A8+ 2018 model is available in two different variant with 4 GB RAM supporting 32 GB storage and 6 GB RAM model with 64 GB storage. Both the handsets have a dedicated micro SD card slot support up to 256 GB alongside with dual SIM support.

Both handsets are powered by latest Bluetooth v5.0, gets NFC for mobile payments and easy transfer, USB Type-C port for charging, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi tether and 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+(2018) are priced at US$ 588 and US $599 respectively. The handsets will be soon available for purchase in Europe and other markets. Among the colors availability, we have it in Black, Gold, Blue and Orchid Grey colors.
