Motorola Moto G5 Plus users in the United States gets a new update as Android Nought 7.0 based August Security Patch is now rolling out.
The August Security Patch update has been released with built number NPN25.137-83 and it’s roll-out via OTA (Over the Air) Update.
Moto G5 Plus and Moto G5 were launched together in February 2017 at Mobile World Conference. There has not been any update from Moto G5 Plus from March 2017. The last one was for updating Moto G5 Plus March security Patch.
The Moto G5 Plus users will be provided with two ways to download the installation package. The first one is to wait for the notification to appear stating that the update is ready to be installed. When the notification pop up the user has to tap “Yes, I’m in”. The downloading will start and then user have to select Install now option, then the device will restart and the process will be finished. The second option is to go to settings and tap on the system update option found in the About Phone section. Backing up of files and images is must to prevent loss of data.
Along with August Security patch, the update also brings bug fixes and device improvements. Adding more updates it also updates improved emergency calling. But the device is still at risk by a BlueBorne vulnerability.
Quickly going through Moto G5 Plus specifications, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, which is composed of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU with a maximum clocking frequency of 2.0 GHz and the Andreno 506 GPU. The phone has a rear camera of 12 Megapixel and front shooter of 5 Megapixel. It’s available in 2GB or 4GB RAM models with 64 GB storage and a 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage. It’s backed by a 3000 mAh battery.
