The Hyderabad Metro fare to cost Rs 20 to Rs 50

Hyderabad with metro development, in progress, is again seen on one of the top listed states for development. The first 30-km phase is planned to be launched between November 28 and 30, HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy informed on Friday. The price of tickets is on the go to get finalized in the process and the Hyderabad Metro fare will cost Rs 20 to Rs 50.

Hyderabad Metro Fare

The project developer L&T had been asked to submit proposals on fares which the government will examine and approve in October.

In the month of March, Municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao told the Assembly that the price band would be Rs 13 to Rs 25 as per existing market costs. It should be noted that the price band was earlier fixed at Rs 8 to Rs 19 in April 2011.

Also, it is found that the costs relating to the said project are seen shooting up and due to the delay in completing the project, there are indications that the price band could be increased to Rs 20. That’s the starting price, it could go up to Rs 50 from start to end station.

Apart from all these, commuters would be happy to know that a Hyderabad Metro app and a smart card, will be launched that would cover TSRTC and Metro Rail services.

Mr. Rao said that government does not owe any arrears to L&T. “The company had sought some funds from the government on the grounds of increased project costs but we made it clear that it would not be possible as per the agreement,” he reiterated.

He also emphasized by saying – “We will build skyways to help Metro commuters to avoid crossing the roads to enter or exit the stations. RTC buses will be given priority to provide transportation for commuters at Metro Rail stations. We will launch electric vehicles.”
