Huawei Honor 8 Pro

Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei has officially announced Honor 8 Pro smartphone. Basically it’s a successor to last year launched Honor 8 this announcement comes after few weeks of official Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones launch at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) in Barcelona. While P series is meant for camera-centric phones, the Honor 8 Pro more or less focus on camera.

The Honor 8 Pro boasts dual rear camera setup with 12 mega pixel + 12 mega pixel cameras assembled on the top left side of the device. With f/2.0 aperture, it’s capable of recording 2160p videos at 30 fps and 1080 pixels full HD videos at 60 fps. It includes phase detection, laser autofocus, dual-toned LED flash features.

There is a 8 mega pixel single front facing camera for selfies with f/2.0 aperture supporting 1080p full HD video recording. Just below the primary camera, there is a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back.

Honor has added additional camera likes ‘Highlights‘, a feature co-developed with GoPro for better image experience. It automatically adds pictures to Gallery and generate a photo album based on device’s picture tagging technology. It comes with pre-installed Go Pro Quik app for advanced photo editing features.

In terms of technical specifications, it’s a power-packed smartphone with homegrown Kirin 960 chipset, an Octa core processor with four cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. There is 64 GB inbuilt storage on the device and has 6 GB of RAM.

Coming to the screen, we have 5.7 inch Quad HD LTPS display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass which provides 551 PPI pixel density. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top.

A 4000 mAh Lithium-Polymer non-removable battery provides exceptional 30 hours of talktime on 3G or 504 hours of standby time. It does include fast charging and other connectivity options like NFC, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, DLNA, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth v4.2, A-GPS with GLONASS, BDS, USB OTG support, and a USB Type-C port.

With the Honor 8 Pro, company takes on budget smartphones like OnePlus 3T, Oppo F3 Plus and Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, Vivo V5 Plus and recently launched Micromax Dual 5.

With a thickness of 6.97 mm, it’s actually slimmer than 7.30 mm size of Apple iPhone 7 Plus. It’s available in Midnight Black, Navy Blue and Pearl White colors.
