Google to release Android 9.1 soon after Android P update

Google is dealing with Android updates pretty quickly, not in terms of actually updating the phones but releasing the software version. After Android 8.0 Oreo release last year, the Android P developer preview is already available. Android P will be the Android 9.0 version and still the name of the version isn’t revealed. It will be out at Google I/O 2018 event which is scheduled to be held from May 8 to May 10.

The Android 9.0 aka the Android P update has been released at Google IO Event after the second developer preview. Sadly, the Android P name is yet to be declared. After the official Android 9.0 release with a name, there will be a minor Android 9.0.1 update followed by 9.0.2 roll-out.

The Android 9.1 update will be the next which could happen when the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL debuts and it will happen in the month of September/October this year. Usually, Google flagship phones are launched only after the Apple’s Fall event which happens in the first or second week of September month.

So, 2018 Google flagship phones will run on Android 9.1 P out of the box and will be first phone to carry that.

The Android 9.1 would eventually happen to be a bug fix update, brings an end to problems that are found in the Android 9.0 update. A number of smartphones will skip the Android 9.0, 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 in favor of Android 9.1 update. As of now, we don’t have the list of such smartphones but it will be released soon!
