Bhuj-Naliya Railway Track under final Testing Phase

Bhuj Naliya Railway Track

Indian Railways is expanding its services to cover as many stations as possible. Under the regime of Suresh Prabhu(ex-Railway Minister), Railway ministry has planned to lay tracks on extreme parts of India where people are only dependent on transport through roadways.

Bhuj-Naliya railway track will connect border areas of Kutch region of Gujarat with rest of the country. It's been converted from meter gauge to broad gauge and it was sanctioned by The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of India in 2008. Currently, the Railway staff is testing the tracks by running the train from Bhuj to Naliya and Naliya to Bhuj. The existing meter-gauge was constructed in 1980's but was soon isolated because of less traffic.

The project is expected to be finished in two phases - first Bhuj-Naliya track conversion and then the extension to Vayor(24.65 kms). The total cost funded for the project is Rs. 318 crores, however, the final expenditure is expected to be on higher side.

Indian Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal is expected to inaugurate the re-laid track early next year and it will be opened for public by 2019. The Railway ministry as of now has planned to run Bhuj-Naliya passenger train and Gandhidham-Naliya passenger train. Soon, many trains which terminate at Bhuj station will be extended to Naliya and Vyor.

Officials from Western Railways (WR) said that the project is under full speed and it will be completed by December 2018 end.

The distance between Bhuj and Naliya through rail will be now 101.24 kms and it will cover the following stations -

Bhuj
Sukhpar
Deshalpar
Sukhpar Roha
Mothala Halt
Dhanvala Wada
Kothara
Naliya Cantt.

Naliya Railway station is getting a face-lift after so many years of in-operation services and Vyor Railway station is under construction.
