Wisconsin has a new excuse to rejoice as the Roundy’s division of Kroger Co., a Milwaukee based Grocery retailer, announced on Wednesday that Grocery Delivery Service in the Madison and the Milwaukee areas will extend to state-wide communities. Yes, you heard it right! With Instacart as their online home-delivery partner, sales are expected to skyrocket in the coming months.

The delivery service Instacart was founded back in 2012 by an ex-Amazon employee in San Fransisco. Now serving hefty markets around the country, the company delivers groceries for Whole foods and many such big-shot brands.

Kroger, which is one of the chief grocery operators in the country, had acquired Roundy’s in early 2016 and since then, it has remodeled most of the general stores in the state to Pick ‘n Save concept. Metro Market operates seven stores in the Milwaukee and Madison areas.

The home delivery service was launched by the Kroger in March across 59 stores of Metro Market and Pick ’n Save situated in Madison and Milwaukee areas. The idea quickly took shape and came out as a success which has now inspired these stores to make the services reach to more than 80% of their customer base across the Wisconsin state.

The two mega stores have joined the popular league of grocery pick-up and delivery programs as physical shops battle it out with other biggies, especially Amazon. The stores plan to open service starting Thursday at the Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Kenosha, Appleton, Wisconsin Rapids, Du Pere, Stevens Point and Wausau locations.

James Hyland, the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc. stated, “We strive to upgrade our customer’s grocery shopping experience by offering them offline and online modes of shopping effortlessly as a part of Restock Kroger”. He further discussed the ‘curbside’ program that endeavors to provide an enhanced digital shopping experience to the customers along with quick access to digital coupons, personalized product hampers, smart shopping checklists, recipes and much more. The company’s handy website and app seamlessly walk you through the digital shopping experience.

Metro Market and Pick ’n Save look at this as an expansion opportunity to their existing business model with a silver lining of increased revenues. As the customers begin to cherish unmatched comfort through digitization of grocery buying, nobody would want to turn back to laborious mart visits. How cool is it to have a dedicated person handpick groceries for you via an app!

The first delivery through Instacart stands while the subsequent deliveries will cost a fee of around &11.95 each. Prices of individual store products remain the same on the digitized version as in the physical store.
