Honor 9 Lite with dual rear and front cameras and Android 8.0 Announced

After announcing their entry into Latin American market, Honor a sub-brand of Huawei Technologies has announced a new Honor 9 Lite smartphone. It’s the latest Honor phone in the Honor brand and also happens to be a mini variant of previously launched Honor 9 smartphone and it could be referred as Honor 9 Mini but the company chooses to name it as Honor 9 Lite. It’s now available for preorder in China and will soon expand its reach in other parts of the world including India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, and others.

According to naming terminology, it happens to be successor to Honor 8 Lite which was unveiled last year. Going through Honor 9 Lite Specifications, it’s a mid-range smartphone. It has a 5.65-inch display with full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The USP of Honor 9 Lite remains the four cameras i.e., dual front and rear cameras with 13 mega pixel + 2 mega pixel setup to capture the depth of the field information. The main camera is with f/2.0 aperture and there is LED flash on either side.

Under the hood, the Honor 9 Lite is powered by a proprietary Octa core Kirin 659 SoC and quite interestingly it runs on the latest version of the Android i.e., Android 8.0 Oreo. On top of Android Oreo is the company’s customized EMUI 8.0 skin out of the box.

The handset will be available in three different models of 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM model with either 32 GB/64 GB built-in storage. Both models include a micro SD card slot supporting expansion up to 256 GB using a micro SD card but sadly it’s a Hybrid dual SIM card slot with SIM 2 for either nano-SIM card or SD card.

In terms of design, even though it’s a mid-range device, it has a metal frame with glass back and has fingerprint scanning unit placed well below the rear cameras which are located on the top left corner. It packs 3000 mAh battery with quick charge support.

The Honor 9 Lite will be available in Blue, Grey and Black colors. The 3 GB RAM model is priced at US $182 and the 4 GB RAM with 32 GB storage variant costs US $ 227.
