Sonakshi Sinha and Siddharth Malhotra are ready to share the silver screen for the very first time with their upcoming flick Ittefaq: ‘It Happened One Night’. The movie is an adaptation of 1969 Rajesh Khanna’s hit movie ‘Ittefaq’. The remake is jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production and Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and it will be directed by Abhay Chopra, the son of Ravi Chopra. The movie is slated to release on November 3, 2017 in India.
Ittefaq 1969 was the remake of Hollywood movie ‘Signpost to Murder‘. The movie starred superstar Rajesh Khanna, Bindu and Nanda in lead roles. The plot – Dilip Roy(Rajesh Khanna) is married to Sushma, and one night after an argument he pushes his wife away and tells her he will kill her and leaves the house. Later on, when he returns home he finds his wife is dead and his wife’s sister Renu(Bindu) alleged him for the murder. Dilip Roy escapes from the prison and refuge in (Rekha’s) Nanda house. At the same place, he finds the dead body of a man who was Nanda’s husband. What happens later and how Dilip proves his innocence makes the rest of the plot.
Abhay Chopra in an interview added 1969’s Ittefaq was a great movie directed by Yash Chopra. The movie was considered to be highest grosser of the year. So to make ‘It Happened One Night’ a hit movie he has to add some magic to the movie which keeps the goers watch the film.
SRK’s revealed the first look of Siddharth Malhotra character in the film, who is handcuffed and has an intense look. Sonakshi Sinha plays the role of Nanda, took to her official Twitter account and shared the character poster, who looks disturbed and wrote: “Would you believe me if I say it wasn’t an Ittefaq?”. Akshay Khanna will be seen as an investigating officer in the movie. The actor will be also seen in ‘Mom’ movie starring Sridevi in lead role.
