“Maleficent 2” confirmed as one of Disney’s dozens of upcoming live-action projects for the next three years has Angelina Jolie returning to the sequel as its titular character has also been confirmed over the summer.

The prequel of the above stated movie Maleficent is a 2014 American dark fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg from the screenplay by Linda Woolverton. Maleficent premiered at the El Captain theatre in Hollywood on May 28, 2014, and was released in the United Kingdom that same day. The film received an Academy Award nomination for the Best Costume Design at the 87th Academy Awards.

Lot many rumors are found to be around the corner with regard to the most awaited Sequel, Hollywood movie, Maleficent 2, especially the release date of the movie which was initially rumored to be on May 2017.

It’s expected that the release date of Maleficent 2 movie might be on May 9, 2018 in theaters. Production, though has not been kicked off yet, so it is believed that the movie-goers will be seeing the film sometime in 2018, at the earliest. Disney has yet to give its official word about the sequel’s release date.

It is also speculated that Linda Woolverton, who also wrote the first “Maleficent” released in 2014, will be writing the sequel. The confirmation given by the writer to ‘We Got This Covered‘ revealed in her words that  “Maleficent 2” will tackle “the next step in the relationship” that exists between the titular character and her ward, Aurora (Ella Fanning).

In 2014 and while promoting “Maleficent 2” in China, Angelina Jolie said that she enjoyed playing the role and also reiterated that “Maybe I’ll get the chance to play her again”.

The credits of writing is shared between Jez Butterworth and Linda Woolverton. The sequel is produced by Joe Roth (Roth films) and Walt Disney Pictures. As per the rumors, the sound mix is done by Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital. The camera section includes Arriflex Cameras and Lenses. Film Length is 7,360 m.

Jez Butterworth credits include James Bond film SpectreEdge of Tomorrow, and James Brown biopic Get On Up.

Jolie’s performance was described as “vinegary touch of panto” by The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw.

“Maleficent” earned $758,539,785 worldwide. Now we know the sequel for the obvious reasons. Disney knows for the fact that developing the sequel of “Maleficent” would be a money-making concept and also a successful one because of its popularity.
