After the burst of biopics in Bollywood industry such as ‘Mary Kom’, ‘M.S. Dhoni- The Untold Story’, ‘Sachin- A Billion Dreams’ there lays another expected biopic to hit the screen by December 2018 portraying the former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This biopic is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book “The Accidental Prime Minister” which was released during the parliamentary polls elections in the year 2014. And now there is news about the release of the movie starring the veteran actor Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh just before the general elections of 2019.

Baru the former media advisor to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the book showcases Manmohan Singh’s belief in a single line of authority because it results in chaos and confusion if there are two centers of power, therefore, Singh seemed to surrender in front of the then Congress Chief, Sonia Gandhi.

The biopic is being produced by Sunil Bohra and the screenplay is written by the National Award winning director Hansal Mehta and is expected to give competition to the Oscar award winning movie ’Gandhi’. Bohra said the cast is almost finalized and the lead will be played by the magnanimous actor Anupam Kher, who is an immense source of power and maturity and works in an exemplary manner to put life in the role played by him.

Kher said that being a part of this film is challenging for him as he has to depict someone from contemporary history, but since he has always accepted challenges he is all set to portray the role of the former Prime Minister and is looking forward to experience his role in the upcoming biopic.

Manmohan Singh biopic will be released in 2018.
