IIT-Jee Advanced Exam

IIT-JEE Advanced 2018 exam will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur on May 20, 2018. The said date was finalized by JAB (Joint Admission Board) at an important meeting held on Sunday, September 17, 2017. It was decided that the IIT Kanpur will organize the JEE Advanced and other zonal IITs would be coordinating with it.

JAB meeting was held at IIT Kanpur and was attended by Directors of various zonal and non-zonal IITs. The meeting was headed by JAB Chairman, Prof Indranil Manna and Organising Chairman, JEE (Advanced) – 2018, Prof Shalabh.

As per the reports, JEE (Advanced) – 2018 would be held through online mode or Computer Based mode is likely to be taken in next 10 days. It is also believed that the IIT entrance exam is expected to go completely online from next academic session onward.

IIT-Madras Director and Chairman JAB 2017, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, when asked about this aspect said –

“It has been decided that the JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in online mode from 2018 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course.”

It should be noted JEE (Mains) is conducted by the CBSE. Zonal IITs: IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. It is likely that the JEE Mains would be held in the first fortnight of April. After this, the result of the JEE (Mains) would be declared. Again, the result of JEE (Mains) would be declared by the end of April.

On the go, the HRD Ministry had earlier introduced the option of taking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – Mains online. Over 11 lakh candidates took the JEE Main this year, of which 2.21 lakh qualified for JEE Advanced.

Admission in the engineering in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and ISM Dhanbad would require the students to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE Advanced). It is the sole admission test for engineering study at IITs.

It is predicted that only the top 2,20,000 candidates (including all categories) based on their scores in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced.
