Dangal beats ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ as the Highest-grossing Indian Film

Aamir Khan’s Dangal is going edge to edge with SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion ‘in terms of box-office collection. Just a couple of days back, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion became the first Indian movie to cross Rs 1000 easily and it also crossed the Rs 1500 crore collection and soon Dangal embarked to that feat and according to reports, it has now displaced the Rajamouli’s epic action drama fantasy to top the table. With the Dangal release in China, the movie has just ticked over Bahubali sequel to become the highest-grossing Indian film ever with Rs 1,662 crore (US$260 million) worldwide gross.(Source: Wikipedia)

The true-life sports drama directed by Nitesh Tiwari has already become the highest grossing non-Hollywood foreign film in China with 975 million Yuan or Rs 915 crore Chinese box office collection until Monday evening. It’s likely to achieve 1 billion Yuan landmark very soon. Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheik starrer recorded 9.8 ratings on most Chinese ticketing applications and fans loved the honest depiction of real-life journey of Mahavir Singh Phogat’s daughter’s life journey.

Co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures, UTV Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions, the film was released on 21 December 2016 in India in North America (United States) and on 23 December 2016 in India. It amassed $137.5 million within first 24 days of its release in China.

However ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ might break Dangal’s record because it’s yet to release in China. Prabhas starrer might become the first Indian film to cross Rs 2,000 worldwide box office figure.
