China Claims Over the State and Renames 6 Places in Arunachal Pradesh, ignites Dispute Yet again

From the news centre of Beijing, the latest update is that China has put forward the step to give names to the 6 places of Arunachal Pradesh. The matter heated up few days before when the protest of China with India took place after the Dalai Lama visit to the frontier state.

As per the state media, the Chinese are firm at their decision of getting the claim over the state and want to rename the state as “South Tibet”. On 14th April an announcement was made from the China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs that “it had standardised in Chinese characters, Tibetan and Roman alphabet the names of six places in ‘South Tibet’, which India calls ‘Arunachal Pradesh’, in accordance with the regulations of the central Government”, by the local Global Times which reported today.

The names of the six places will be officially written using Roman alphabets as Wo’gyainling, Mila Ri, Mainquka, Bumo La and Qoidengarbo. The disputes regarding the India-China border is since the war of 1962 when the Chinese took control over Aksai chin. The dispute between India and China is about the boundaries referred as Line of Actual Control (LOC) that covers the area of 3,488 kms. However, over the couple of years, special representatives from both the countries has taken initiative for about 19 times to resolve the issue of the boundaries.

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Kiren Rijiju commented with an assertion that Arunachal Pradesh is “an inseparable part of India”, while accompanying the spiritual leader of Tibet, during the visit of Dalai Lama to Arunachal Pradesh.
