Ever since BlackBerry has quit the smartphone hardware business, they are doing considerably well after their tie-up with TCL to supply them phones. Back in September 2016, the Canadian smartphone maker announced BlackBerry KEYone, one of their full-fledged Android smartphone. Finally, BlackBerry KEYone is arriving in India and it will be available very soon.
A couple of months back, BlackBerry announced an agreement with Optiemus Infracom to design, manufacturer and market BlackBerry phones in India, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, and Bangladesh. Optiemus Infracom has confirmed that they will launch KEYone smartphone in India in June 2017. It’s currently retailing at $549(Rs 35,500) for the unlocked handset in the United States and Canada. While arriving in India, the Optiemus Infracom will add a slight modification to the device.
Just like BB Merah Putih in Indonesia sell the device with dual SIM, the Indian-variant too will include the dual SIM option and that should be a great news for the buyers as well as they often look to take advantage of two networks. Most of them like to have Reliance JIO on SIM card 1. Apart from that, it is supposed to get additional 1 GB of RAM from the current 3 GB on the global variant of it and it will be manufactured in India with ‘Make in India‘ branding.
Designed and manufactured by TCL, the BlackBerry Keyone comes with iconic QWERTY full keyboard. It features a 4.5 inch 1620 x 1080 pixels display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top at 433 PPI pixel density. It runs on Android 7.1 out of the box and has 12-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with 1/2.3″ sensor size capable of recording videos at 2160p at 30 fps. There is 8-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture.
It’s powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core chipset with 32 GB inbuilt memory and a micro SD card slot. Other features of Keyone includes 3505 mAh non-removable Li-ion battery, USB Type-C, USB OTG, Bluetooth v4.2 and a fingerprint sensor.
