Apple Inc, the leading technology company, intends to enter in the automotive market as the permission to conduct a self driving cars test. Cupertino based iPhone maker has been granted by the California Department of Motor Vehicles as they are now permitted to test drive their self-driving cars in California.
California Department of Motor Vehicles made this information public on their official website on Friday. It means that Apple can test their cars on the public roads in California. Three vehicles produced by Lexus Company are allowed to test drive in California.
Even though reports were out in the year 2015, that it was discussing the possibility of a test drive with the state Department of Motor Vehicles, no further information on the said topic was made public. No comment has been forthcoming from the company till now; however, the company had hinted that it was interested in automated systems in areas such as transportation.
The said project was named as Project Titan as per the sources, and the employee strength of the said project was more than 1000 at one point of time. It was also stated that due to some problems, Apple had brought Bob Mansfield as a trouble shooter for smooth function of the project. As of today, the current status of this project is not known.

California has been encountering many such test drives of self-driving cars because more than 25 companies have sought out permission for such test drives from the state DMV. The announcement by California DMV made it clear that the technology giant is active in the automotive industry.
