Amazon’s Latest Launch: 30-Minute Curbside Pickup At Whole Foods

Seattle-based Amazon has been on a roll lately. Reflecting a market capitalization greater than $900 billion, they certainly aren’t slacking on grocery.

Amazon’s Whole Foods acquisition from last year is shaping up the company’s expansion. First, it was the Amazon Prime member benefits declared in June this year that attracted shoppers to sales and weekly ‘deep discounts’ on the top-selling items from the Whole Foods Market. And adding another feather to its cap, the Whole Foods Market is set to begin its online delivery services with the help of Amazon Prime Now in new metropolitan markets.

As announced by the companies, Prime Now delivery is now available from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Palm Beach as well as some parts of Long Island, NY. This also extends to lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Amazon’s Prime customer benefits program members can shop from a wide range of products including fresh produce, dairy, bakery, a selection of meat and seafood and a lot more through the Prime app and website. Select alcohol products are also available. As a bid to attract customers Amazon has kept free two-hour delivery on orders exceeding $35, and a one-hour delivery will cost you $7.99 more.  The timings for delivery are 8 am to 10 pm.

In a recent press release, Whole Foods executive Vice President Christina Minardi said, “We are thrilled with the customer response to delivery in as little as an hour through Prime Now, and we’re more than excited to bring the service to our loyal customers in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, Long Island and New York City.” She asserted that this announcement further signifies Amazon’s effort to expand across the country and give consumers access to their high-quality products and reliable services.  This expansion has helped Amazon successfully enter more than 24 markets. In late June, Amazon Whole Foods commenced their services in Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, Indianapolis and San Antonio.

Amazon has big plans to conquer the grocery market by the end of 2018. Amazon plans to make two-hour delivery free via Prime Now throughout the country. Amazon is steadily building its grip tighter on the market with its elite Prime Now program, and it already has a lot of consumers ready to avail their services.  Prime Now delivery is already available in major metro areas such as San Francisco, Sacramento, Boston, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Richmond, Denver, Virginia Beach, Dallas, Cincinnati, Austin and many more important areas. Seemingly true, the excitement and momentum for Prime members are growing by the day.
